This time I’ve made experimental desktop art, abstract geometric compositions inspired by leaves. The club special of the season comes with 2 wallpapers and a set of 4 experimental desktop icons.

I’m getting ready to send out the Spring Edition of Club Marmalade Moon. This limited edition desktop wallpaper inspired by the seaside is the club special of the season.

The club special wallpaper includes versions for fullscreen and widescreen computers as well as the iPhone and iPad. I’m so excited to release my first wallpaper for the iPad!

And yes, thanks to my friends and colleagues at the Iconfactory, I’ve got an iPad, although it’s not available been released in Sweden yet! So now I’ve been able to write a tutorial for how you change the wallpaper on your iPad! Because naturally, that’s the first thing you want to do when you get a new device!

Seaside wallpaper is inspired by the promise of summer, the beach, the sea and a Technicolor inspired palette and it accompanies a new series of Vintage Folder Icons. Grainy, retro, minimalist, robust with a nostalgic twist.

So keep your eyes peeled for new desktop art!

Here are two methods for changing the wallpaper on your iPad.

Changing The iPad Wallpaper Through Settings

1. Tap on Settings
2. In the Settings screen select Brightness & Wallpaper
3. Now you have several options. First select which screen you would like to customize, the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.
   • Wallpaper will take you to Apple’s pre-installed selection of Wallpapers. Switch to a new one by clicking on its thumbnail image
   • Saved Photos lets you pick any of the photos you’ve synced with your iPad. Select the one you want to use as a wallpaper by tapping it
4. At the top-right corner you have the option to set the chosen wallpaper for the Lock Screen, the Home Screen or Both.
5. Once you have selected an image, you can drag your finger to move the wallpaper into the position you like and use the finger-thumb pinch to zoom it in or out. When you’re happy, tap on Set Wallpaper

Changing the iPad Wallpaper Through Photos

1. Click on Photos
2. Select the photo you want to use as a wallpaper
3. Tap on the Actions icon in the top right corner 
4. Once you have selected the image, you can adjust it by dragging your finger to move the wallpaper into the position you like and by using the finger-thumb pinch to zoom it in or out. When you’re happy, tap on Set Wallpaper

Tip

You can make a photo library in iTunes for your iPad wallpapers and name it something like iPad Wallpapers to easily find wallpapers you want to use on your iPad.

Changing The iPhone Wallpaper Through Settings

   • Camera Roll lets you pick any of the photos you have taken with the camera on your iPhone. Select the one you’d like to use as a wallpaper by tapping it
   • Photo Library (and any photo folders you have created) lets you select any photo you have synced with your iPhone. Select the one you want to use as a wallpaper by tapping it
4. Once you have selected the photo, you can drag your finger to move the wallpaper into the position you like and use the finger-thumb pinch to zoom it in or out. When you’re happy, click on Set Wallpaper

Changing the iPhone Wallpaper Through Photos

1. Click on Photos
2. Select the photo you want to use as a wallpaper

Forsythia

Showy and vibrant Forsythia, or golden bells, is a native to Asia. Erupting with abundant, bright golden yellow flowers on bare, leafless stems ushering in spring. These desktop backgrounds were inspired by Japanese art and patterns as well as yellow.

Forsythia comes in two versions so you can either take your pick or use them for a set up with dual monitors. As usual, available both for fullscreen, widescreen and iPhone/iPod Touch.

I just sent out the winter issue of limited edition desktop goodies exclusively for members of Club Marmalade Moon. This time I made an assortment of festive ribboned holiday gifts in the same style as the collections of Productive Icons.

Desktop Holiday Gifts

Snowy Night. Winter landscape with full Blue Moon.

If something happens “once in a blue moon” it happens very rarely, but it does happen and I see this idiom as an expression for a miracle. I love the phrase!

This month there actually will be a Blue Moon on December 31, New Year’s Eve. How magical this sounds! But, what is a Blue Moon?

Traditionally, the Farmers’ Almanac referred to the Blue Moon as an extra full moon that occurred in a season. A season normally had three full moons. If a season had four full moons, then the third of the four full moons was known as a blue moon. According to modern folklore, a Blue Moon is the second full moon in a calendar month and it’s this kind of modern Blue Moon that we’ll see this month.
