"My favorite is this rainbow picture-it shows the different techniques that you can use with Iphoneography!"
"lioness - It is just a shot with the iPhone, no app, but I like the tensity of the animal."
"Ripples in the sand - created by the retreating waves and gusting winds - and washed away and made anew the next day - I love the beauty in the moment in the texture and patterns I enhanced further post processing. "
"gorilla - another simple shot with the iPhone, here I like the close up, it shows the power of a gorilla."
"Here is a black and white that happened along the way with the project that I liked very much."
"Reflections in my car window one morning made more dramatic and interesting by the angle of the picture and the apps I uses to add drama to the scene - i like the mood of this one an early morning grumble in the skies above."
"I like this one because its classic beach icon gone fun & wildly colorful!"
"The image of the dying rose on the circles (tree stump) is a strong image - i love the colours which are eletric and the consecutive circles of the image beneath.... this kind of image is an exploration for me a contrast to the dark and moody images I usually produce... It felt good to explore something different."
"A playful image about spring and flowers."
"I liked how the Gargoyle turned out because he looks mystical. "
"I took a picture of my cat Zeus trying to get my fish in the pond-It looks magical!"
"Home scene. The sunset is beautiful and different every night. Calming. I love the light and water texture and color."
"The first spring blossoms curling and showing up from behind the leaves. I like the lighting."
"Reflections again in the water gathered in a farmers gateway - reflecting the light of late afternoon and the storm clouds closing in - I enjoy the feel of this picture the fields in the back ground and the reflected gate and clouds in the fore ground all giving a feeling of suspense perhaps."
"Here'¨s an abstract that I like".
Getting Started With iPhoneography
Winter 2013
"I like iPhoneography, because of the fact, that you can make a snapshot into a photo that almost looks like a painting."
"Something else I would not have normally taken a picture of - the cathedral near to home...I guess it has something to do with familiarity and the thought that it would be boring.... yet it appears that no photos need remain boring any more ... I like the apocalyptic feel of this photo and it has taught me not to take anything for granted..."
"I love how the colours express Flamenco: It's a dance of passion, expression and power."
"I like the combination of the ink and purple in this image and that you still can recognize the face of the cat (if you know him)."
"Walking home from a friends one night I saw this sweet little car with a bright light above and wondered how I could use the light and how it would affect the picture if I were to change it into an illustration... I love the impact that the light had within the apps with what was originally not a particularly inspiring pic."
"My simple beach glass tabletop sculpture turned into a beautiful, dreamy underwater world with the Vintigue effects."
"The original photo was of wonderful winter twilight, but became this glorious, dream-like image using Vintique, where some of the clouds structures almost look like mountains beyond the tree. This one is exciting, yet harmonious all at once."
"I just love how my very OK original photo became this bright, happy flower portrait using Vintique--the almost glow of the pink-purple dazzles!"
"This was a still life taken in my study of circles within circles, a strong light to one side and then an increase in contrast and a filter with in an app - although this is not something I would not have normally taken a picture of - I am more into flowers and such... - I enjoyed using the apps and was rather exited by the ability to change a mediocre pic into something more... I got rather excited and promptly dusted off some old pictures to have a play with them to... some interesting results...."

Creative iPhoneography
Autumn 2012
"I drove out to visit a friend who had just returned from the hospital. After leaving his house I drove to fill up with gas and behind the gas station, I could see this empty lot with sunflowers and such. I am sure people at the gas station thought I was nuts as I walked into the field with my phone and started taking some pictures."
"This photo was a complete surprise. I was visiting Minnesota and just could not get over all of the fields of grain. I sat down at a table and felt totally enveloped by the wheat. I took this photo with no intention. Surprisingly it translated wonderfully."
"Sometimes, when I see the beauty and symmetry created by nature - like the amazing markings on this butterfly's wings - it's like the universe is trying to show us a secret that's just barely out of our reach."
"I took this photo today in Harlem of brownstone stoops. Using Jazz filters it has become a photo from 100 hundred years ago. As much as things change they seem to stay the same!"
"I'm most proud of this piece, as I had originally thought that I would go an easier route, but then decided that I wouldn't be doing myself any favors in doing so. Instead, I chose to replicate M.C. Escher's "Drawing Hands" piece.
The biggest challenge was not only that there were many steps involved, but that I would need to not only incorporate a photo of my hands, but actually draw on my iPhone the sleeves so that it matched up properly with the gradient of my hands blending in with the drawing paper. I then had to attempt to blend the two together seamlessly. It was quite a task and took several hours to complete."
"For this series, I blended photos I took during a walk in nature with inspiration from Magritte, and I added colour and brushstrokes. I feel that I have found a new and fun way to be creative and express myself artistically."
"I love this image because of the watery paint effects and the light that shines from it. I was inspired by Monet's waterlilies (although his colour palette is softer)"
"This is an experimental piece where I blended and superimposed two photos with a butterfly. I played with colour and pattern and I feel that I began to find my artistic voice during the creation of this image."
"This was a very new thing for me. I was able to incorporate my love of doodling with my new love, iPhoneography."
"This picture is me taking photos of water and I suddenly saw the reflection of me in the water and thought it looked cool. I just shot it in the camera in the iPhone."
"I'm proud of this piece for it's timing and sentimental aspect, as I was in the middle of researching the disappearance of my great-grandfather (featured behind the silhouette of the man) and the fact that it is my own family in the photo."
"This picture is edited in Blender. It´s a mans face and his jacket from behind. He is holding a pink bag in his hand and his arm becomes his nose. I worked with it so many hours and was so happy when it was ready. I like that its not at all sweet and nice."
"I came about this by accident looking for texture to photograph. This puddle had the perfect reflection of a building that stands across the street. A little enhancement with snapseed really brings out the detail. It was a cool discovery."
"This image evokes the deep sadness I feel at the end of summer. The light fading, grey creeping in. Sunshine and lazy days just a memory - like a postcard of times past."
"During the summer we frequent a restored outdoor movie theatre. It harkens back to an older age here, when kids could run free and the simple fellowship of watching a movie made the world feel a little bit smaller. I love this shot as it captures the warm nights, breezes and sights and smells of something from my childhood. What movie is showing? Why it could be Casablanca or Spiderman... let your mind fill in the empty screen."
"This is the first photo ever I edited through a filter in an app and I was so surprised by the beautiful colours the app gave the photo. It was Pixlr-o-matic."
"I visited a farmer's market last weekend and this basket of mushrooms really appealed to me on several levels - both visually and gastronomically!
Looking at them, I can't decide if I just want to run my hands thru them or slice them up and drop them in a skillet with a little butter."
"Poetry in Motion: I took this photo at the Fairfield Boathouse, (Melbourne, Australia). As I was sitting at the river's edge, I noticed the ducks and the ripples of the water and I thought it looked really beautiful."
"I love the magic that happened as this photo developed using different apps. The colors are mesmerizing and inviting and it sort of calls to me."
"I'm not one to share my pet photos but I love how this blended image of my grey tabby and the top of a wrought iron table I shot from above create this amazing but somehow organic looking texture."
"We were at breakfast the other day and my daughter (a frequent target of my photos... i mean subject!!) was sitting in front of this beautiful ivy. The warm morning sun shining thru the window & the ivy cast a wonderful green glow all over the table."
"I love our summers and this collage really captured all of the things I love about summer. Blue skies, flowers, our old house, and that smiling coffee drinking boy."

Featuring art work by Julie Green, Jennifer Lynn Bishop, Wini Dougall, Stephen Banks, Esmee Brand, Valarie Budayr and Anne Vilemsons.
What happened after the Creative iPhoneography Course was over?
Students have commented that they are seeing their world very differently now, and have established the new creative habit of taking iPhone photos during their days. Feeling confident that they have a unique voice and a reality that is "worth expressing". They are breaking boundaries, experimenting with creative apps and discovering hidden talents and happy inner artists. The DSLR photographers in the group have discovered the freedom and new possibilities that the iPhone can bring into their photography.
Students are working on exciting new, personal iPhoneography projects, and are weaving iPhone creativity into their daily lives. Lisa, Julie, Jennifer and Esmee are creating their own websites to showcase their iPhoneography, Julie has lead her first neighbourhood photo walk, and been featured in Flickr groups for excellent iPhoneography. Jennifer has landed her first commercial iPhoneography commission and Anne arranged her first art show before the course even was over!
