The Ice Is Melting

iPhone photography: Ice on the lake in March
The end of March, spring equinox, and the ice on the lake is melting. Sounds of spring: birdsong. Drops and trickles of running water. The crush of melting ice falling off the roof and crashing down on the ground. Which are the sounds you notice just now in your surroundings?

Welcome Spring!
I love your photos, beautiful effects!
What beautiful and evocative photos Kate!
At the moment its late afternoon, its sunny outside and I can hear birds singing, kookaburras laughing, and the rustle of the leaves on the trees :)
Kate, did you take those photos with your iphone? They’re stunning! At first I thought they might be vintage postcards.
We’re enjoying many of the same noises here in Helsinki. Every year, I hobble around the ice like a true foreigner, so (beautiful as winter is) it’s a relief that the ice is melting. Happy equinox! x
when I read “The crush of melting ice falling off the roof and crashing down on the ground,” all I could think of was sprains and crutches. ouch.
But, yes, lots of birdsongs. Early in the morning. I don’t even mind it right now, but come August I have a real bone to pick the those 4:30 am birds.
And don’t forget the smells…this is the time of year when everybody burns their brush and leaves here. The smell of those fires have a lasting impression of spring on me.
HAPPY SPRING, Kate! Your photos are lovely! :o) It is melting slooowly here too. In recent days I’ve especially been noticing the return of birdsong… they have been very busy singing in the mornings–I love it! Happy Week, my friend ((HUGS))
The photos are lovely and I’m so glad that Sweden is thawing out a bit. We’ve had lots of bird song for about two weeks now. Happy Spring Kate.
what beautiful photos! happy to have found another artist/writer/traveller’s blog:) and happy spring! xoxo, juliette
Wonderful photos! Happy Spring! : )
I love these photos. Just gorgeous and such a mood setter!
Such gorgeous photos! I love them. Happy spring sweet friend! :) Love to you!
Thank you so much for your appreciations! And yes, these photos are taken with an iPhone. Isn’t it amazing how painterly they look? The ice breaking on the lake is one of the motifs I’m working on just now and the picture at the top captured those moody blues so well that I picked my colour palette largely from it.
